gday mate...i guess...

so i have now arrived in sydney after an extremely long journey...heres what happened.

got to the airport and there was this girl in front of me in the line who was also doing gap. we chatted a litte but not much. she was waiting for this girl who was at the same placement as her and i just wanted to get right through the security. i had some time to kill in the airport. read some of this other book that i hadnt finished yet. got a bagel from timmys. my last for the next 8 months or so. then i got on the plane. the girl from the line (laura) was sitting in front of me and beside me i had the hugest weirdos. kevin and his dad louis. louis proceeded to tell me not to get anymore peircings...like 6 is too many? what ever. anyways. got off the plane in la and decided it was time to make a friend. so i asked laura and nicole (the girl she had been waiting for) if they knew where we were going next. they said no and that they knew of some other gappers on the plane. so we turned into a group of six. Kelly (from chilliwak) and ashley from surry and neil from galleano (sp?) joined us. we went down through security and everything cause we had to change buildings and we saw another gapper...kenna. she was standing with this guy whom we assumed to be another gapper. so kelly starts talking to him. she asked if he was a gapper and he says yes. then a few minutes later we find out surprise hes not...what a weirdo. so we went up through security in la. neil lost his wallet and had to run back down to the other building and get it. kelly and i shared a gross turkey wrap. we had like 3 hours to kill in la. phoned the rents. it was like midnight by the time we got on the plane. ashley neil kenna and laura were sitting close to the back of the plane sort of together and laura nicole and i were up a little. the girls were behind me. there was this nice guy named justin beside me (older tlell...) he talked a little about australia and stuff he was pretty cool. i think a professor or something. it was about 130am when we got "dinner" which was prety gross and than i fell asleep for a bit. it was a really long flight. about 14.5 hrs. i was fully awake for the last 6 or so. watched a movie and some tv. just dosed for the first 8. its hard to sleep on the plane.
so anyways we got off in melbourne security and customs were really easy to get through. and then we turned into 9 as we met a couple other gappers who had come on a plane just before us. me and kelly got a taxi together and headed to orientation. we decided that if we had to share a room we would. we got there and orientation was pretty much over. we had some breaky and karan (gap australia leader) said that the 9 of us who were late would be making their own walking group...a shorter one so that we could shower and stuff. (the other 35 or so gappers split into groups after breaky and went to walk around melbourne)
so i had a shower, and then we walked over to the market place. it was really interesting. i took some pictres. lots of people there. after that we went back to the uni and had a bbq lunch. after lunch we were supposed to do some trivia or something but kelly laura ashley and i skipped it and each went to our rooms for about an hour. i read and had a little nap, then i went to lauras room and kelly and ashley came and we watched center stage on lauras portable dvd player. after that we showed each other pictures. and then we went to dinner. at dinner we asked karan for our tram passes and she said she might have trouble finding them because they were given out at trivia. she seemed to think that we were trouble makers or something cause she kept telling us not to stay out too late and pestering us about what we were gonna do that night. whatever...
got some tram passes. met this kid on the tram who we asked where a good place was to go for a drink. he said he was a busboy at this place called icon. so when we got off the tram we followed him there. now everythig would have gone well except that when we tried to get in kelly asked if the guys wanted to see id, which was a problem because ashley was only 17. dammit kelly...they werent going to ask for it! but whatever, we walked around some more in dt melbourne and looked in this really fancy mall, by 830 we were all exhausted and took the tram back and went to bed. next morning we had to get up and listen to this boring lecture. after that was lunch and then we had free time till our pick ups. we played spoons (me ashley laura kelly and neil) this german guy joined us cause we were so loud and having so much fun and then it was time to go. it was kinda sad cause those girls were so much fun those couple of days. (ooo the sun is rising...its so pretty here) ANYWAYS! me and kat (the girl i am working with) flew to sydney saturday night and jca picked us up. they took us unfortunetly right to the refugee came down in gerroa which is 2 hours from sydney. i was SOO exhausted. we got there and everyone was waiting and yelled welcome to australia. they gave us cake and stuff it was very overwhelming. then everyone started dancing and they said we should join and i started crying a little cause i was so tired and i just wanted to go to bed. got to bed about 1030 (which by the way is 330 in the afternoon the day before and i had been up all canada night) went to sleep got up the next morning..had breaky. we went down to the beach (7 mile beach) it was sooo gorgeous. i loved it. then we had lunch and headed back to sydney. i didnt get home until like 5 last night. my room is ok. the house really needs to be cleaned. i guess there were some sudanese boys here before us. we got a strange phone call at 330 in the morning. the first thing i did was vaccuum my floor. today i will wash out my cupboards before i put my clothes in them. Kat had a spider in her nightside table. not cool and she has some gum stuck to the wall. id say i got the best bedroom. and i think today we will go downtown sydney. and clean the house haha. also i need to find a locker or something because there is no lock on my bedroom door and this is a community house that everyone is allowed in and out of and it makes me uncomfortable not to have a lock on the door.
it sounds different here. the birds sound very tropical. its not chirping its like squaking and all these other neat calls. well ur prolly bored now after reading all of that so ill finish
(its alot colder here than i expected...but warmer that melbourne was)
perhaps i will go and shower...

Yes! I'm so happy to finally hear from you!
I hope the jetlag is getting a wee bit better, and that they are aware you're crazy tired.
That was nice of them to have a little party for you, they seem to be pretty laid back.
God, now I wanna come visit you!
Love you twin!

SO GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU

Hey. So tell me more about your house, what does the outside look like, and how many people are coming in and out?? I thought it was only you, Kat, and a couple of aussies... And the refugee camp, will you be bussed out there every day to be with the ppl? And where is your house in relation to everything else in Sydney?? (Sorry for all the questions) I'm glad you made it safe and sound... PS-say M's girlfriend yesterday (you know who I'm talking about right?) She's not that pretty hahaha. What an assbag. I love you!

Re: SO GLAD TO HEAR FROM YOU

it is brick and kinda lame looking on the outside. i will take pictures. almost all of the sisters have keys to this house. and everyone that works with JCA is allowed in whenever they please. its a community house so...ya. but its just kat me and sheree that live here (sheree is the aussie). nope we arent bussed out there everyday we work mostly in a suburb called ashfield. they have another house there that has the office in it...im not sure if anyone lives there but i dont think so. the refugee camp is just something they hold once a couple of months or so. the refugees live in sydney in various suburbs (mostly in blacktown) and we hold this fun camp for them. most of them have never seen the ocean so it is nice for them to be able to come and spend the weekend there with us. we are about a 40 minute train ride from downtown but thats only cause it stops at every stop along the way. if we were driving it would be about 20 minutes. we are close to the train stop tho...only about 5 minute walk. there is a primary school two doors down and in the morning we get to hear them sing and stuff. its kinda funny. yep m is an assbag!

I am curious...

...are you living in Sydney or Gerroa? If Gerroa, I'm very jealous. Seven Mile Beach....awesome! Hope you get over your jet lag before you start work --- your twin's mom.

Re: I am curious...

we are living in sydney in a suburb called Toongabbie. gerroa is just where we have the camps once every couple of months or so.
